Apple Crumble Recipe

Directions
Make the topping.
Put the butter into the bowl or plate.
Sift the flour over it.
Add the sugar.
Rubbing with your fingers, mix these three ingredients together till they look like fat bread-crumbs.
Keep aside.
Peel the apples.
Cut each apple into half, then into slices, then into bits.
Drop into the oven-proof bowl.
Squeeze the lemon juice over, using the squeezer if you need.
Toss the apples so they all get coated with the juice.
This will prevent them discolouring.
Sprinkle over the 1 tablespoon sugar.
If the apples are very sour, you can add some more.
Put the stick of cinnamon down among the apples.
Over the apples, sprinkle the topping you have made.
If the oven has heated up, put the dish in and bake for about 40-45 minutes.
The apples will smell very fragrant and the crumble should be golden.
