Apple-Cherry-Nut Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| Flour | 4 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking powder | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 2/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 3 | |
| Applesauce | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Nuts | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 1/2 c. maraschino cherries, choooed | ||
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Lemon peel | 2 Tablespoon, grated | |
| Powdered sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Evaporated milk | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Vanilla extract | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda.
Beat sugar and shortening until fluffy.
Add eggs; beat until smooth.
Beat in flour mixture alternately with applesauce.
Stir in nuts, cherries and lemon peel.
Pour into 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove bread from pans while warm; cool.
Blend powdered sugar and milk until smooth; add vanilla.
Spread on loaves.
