Apple Charlotte Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter | 60 Gram | |
| White breadcrumbs | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 x425g can pie apples | ||
| 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind | ||
| Lemon juice | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Sugar | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Brown sugar | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Grease a 20cm pie plate with half the butter, and press one cup of the crumbs on to bottom and sides. Mix apples with lemon rind, juice and sugar and spoon into the plate. Cover with rest of crumbs, dot with remaining butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Place in a preheated moderately slow oven 170C (325F) and bake until crumbs are crisp, about 40 minutes. Serve warm with cream, ice cream or custard Note: Crumbs are quick to make in a blender, even if the bread is fresh. Without a blender, it is easier if bread is stale. Rub it through a sieve or crumble into pieces with the fingers.
