Apple Bread Pudding Recipe
Preparing their favorite Apple Bread Pudding is a way of letting my family know that I love them. There is not a single month when I don't serve this yummy Dessert! You don't have to be an expert to judge how delicious and flavorful this dish is.
Ingredients
1 cup milk
2 tbsp butter
1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp grated lemon rind
2 egg yolks
1/2 cups peeled, diced apples
1/2 cup sultana raisins
2 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
Pouring cream OR whipped cream
Directions
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Have ready 1 1/2-qt. casserole.
Heat milk and butter to scalding point in small saucepan.
Add bread crumbs and cook and stir 1 minute over moderate heat.
Pour into large bowl.
Add 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and lemon rind.
Stir to blend.
Beat egg yolks with a fork and stir into milk mixture.
Add apples and raisins.
Beat egg whites until fluffy.
Add 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tbsp at a time, beating well after each addition.
Continue beating until stiff and glossy.
Fold into milk mixture.
Pour into casserole and bake 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in centre comes out clean.
Serve warm with pouring cream or whipped cream.
