Apple And Tomato Chutney Recipe
Ingredients
2 pounds apples
2 pounds tomatoes
3/4 pound onions
1 clove garlic
1/2 pound dried fruit (raisins, apricots)
3/4 pound sugar
1 tablespoon mustard seed
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Salt to taste
1 1/2 pints vinegar
Directions
Peel and core apples.
Cook in very little water until tender and pulpy.
Chop tomatoes, onions, garlic and dried fruit and add these with sugar to the apples.
Tie mustard seed in pieces of muslin, add with remaining ingredients, including vinegar.
Cook gently, approximately 2 hours.
When chutney reaches desired consistency, bottle in sterilized jars and seal with paraffin.
