Directions

1. Mix the apples with the lemon juice, water, apricots and nutmeg. Transfer to an ovenproof dish and press down well.
2. Work the butter into the flour with your fingers, then add the sugar a little at a time. When the texture resembles breadcrumbs, spread it lightly over the fruit.
3. Place in a preheated oven for about 1 hour. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
