Apple and Apricot Wholemeal Crumble Recipe
Ingredients
750 g (1 1/2 lb) tart eating apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon water
175 g (6 oz) dried apricots soaked overnight and chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
50 g (2 oz) butter
100 g (4 oz) whole meal flour
25 g (1 oz) molasses sugar
Directions
1. Mix the apples with the lemon juice, water, apricots and nutmeg. Transfer to an ovenproof dish and press down well.
2. Work the butter into the flour with your fingers, then add the sugar a little at a time. When the texture resembles breadcrumbs, spread it lightly over the fruit.
3. Place in a preheated oven for about 1 hour. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
