Apple Whole Wheat Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| Shortening | 1 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Brown sugar | 1 Cup(16 tbs), firmly packed | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 4 standard | |
| Whole wheat flour | 1 1/2 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Flour | 1 1/2 Cup(16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking powder | 4 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Milk | 1 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Coffee | 1/4 Cup(16 tbs), cold | |
| Apples | 4 Cup(16 tbs), peeled | |
| Sugar | 1/3 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon |
Directions
Cream together shortening, brown sugar and 1 c.sugar until light.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift together flours, baking powder and salt.
Add flour mixture alternately with the milk and coffee.
Place half of mixture in greased and lightly floured 13x9x2" baking pan.
Place half the apple slices in about 3 rows on top.
Add the remaining batter and then the rest of the apple slices.
Sprinkle with combined 1/3 c.sugar and cinnamon.
Bake in 350° oven 45-50 minutes or until done.
