Ingredients
Pastry for 9-inch Two-crust Pie
2 or 3 medium apples, pared and sliced
8 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
Cardamom Sauce
Directions
Heat oven to 425°.
Prepare pastry as directed except roll each round on floured cloth-covered board into rectangle, 16X8 inches.
Cut each rectangle crosswise into 4 strips, 8X4 inches.
Place 6 or 7 apple slices on half of each strip; sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar and dot with butter.
Moisten edges of strips with water; fold pastry over apple slices and press edges together with floured fork to seal.
Cut slits or apple shape on top of each pastry square.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.
