Apple Squares Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon (15 ml) sugar
1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
1/2 cup (125 ml) butter, at room temperature
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons (30 ml) milk
5 large tart apples, pared and cored
2/3 cup (150 ml) sugar
2 tablespoons (30 ml) all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons (30 ml) melted butter
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Assemble Mixer.
In small mixer bowl, combine first six ingredients at MEDIUM-LOW until mixed.
Pat into an 8x8x2-inch (20x20x5 cm) baking pan.
Assemble Salad Maker with Thin Slicer Disc and large bowl.
Process apples.
Spread apples evenly over butter crust.
Stir remaining ingredients together and spoon over apples.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until golden brown.
Cool 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
