Apple Sauce Gingerbread Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Ground ginger | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cinnamon | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Margarine | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), softened | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Molasses | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 cup Natural Apple Sauce | ||
| Decorator Icing | ||
Directions
Sift together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; set aside.
In bowl, with electric mixer at high speed, beat margarine, sugar and molasses until creamy.
Alternately blend in dry ingredients and apple sauce.
Cover and chill dough for several hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 375°F On floured surface, roll dough out to 1/8 inch thickness with lightly floured rolling pin.
Cut with floured gingerbread man cutter or other shapes.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Bake 12 minutes or until done.
Remove from sheet; cool on wire rack.
Frost with Decorator Icing as desired.
After icing dries, store in airtight container.
