Simple Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Flour | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (For short crust pastry) | |
| Butter | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (For short crust pastry) | |
| Salt | 1 Pinch (For short crust pastry) | |
| Water | 3 Tablespoon (For short crust pastry) | |
| Pinch of Soda bicarb | ||
| Apples | 400 Gram (For filling) | |
| Sugar | 100 Gram (For filling) | |
| Pinch of nutmeg powder | ||
| Milk for brushing | ||
Directions
Sieve flour and salt together in a large mixing bowl.
Mix butter and flour with fingers till it resembles bread crumbs.
Knead to a stiff dough by adding water.
Knead well and divide into two.
Roll out both the doughs into 1/2 cm thick pastry slightly bigger than the pie dish.
Take a round pie dish.
Put one pastry in the dish covering the sides of the dish also.
Cut out extra pastry with a knife.
Prick with fork.
Peel, core and cut the apples into slices and arrange over the pastry.
Sprinkle sugar and nutmeg over the apple slice.
Sprinkle 2 tbsp water also.
Cut strips from the second pastry and make lattice design on top of the pasty.
Brush the pastry with milk.
Bake in the oven at 220°C for 20 minutes.
Reduce the heat to 160°C and bake for another 20 minutes.
Cool for 10 minutes.
Remove from the dish and serve warm.
