Apple Pandowdy Recipe
Ingredients
Pastry for 1-crust pie
4 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash ground nutmeg
Dash salt
5 cups thinly sliced pared apples
1/4 cup light molasses
2 tablespoons water
Directions
Roll out pastry on lightly floured surface to 10 x 6-inch rectangle; brush with some'of the butter.
Fold in half.
Brush with some butter; fold again and seal edges.
Repeat rolling again, brushing with some butter, and folding.
Chill.
Roll to 10 x 6-inch rectangle.
Place on glass pizza plate.
Cook at MEDIUM HIGH (7) for 7 to 8 minutes or till lightly browned.
Mix together sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and the salt; toss with the apple slices.
Place in 10 x 6 x 1 1/2 inch baking dish.
Combine molasses, water, and remaining melted butter; pour over apples.
Cook at HIGH for 10 minutes or till tender, stirring twice.
Top with' crust.
"Dowdy" the crust by cutting through the crust and apples with a sharp knife diagonally one way and then diagonally the other.
