Ingredients
4 lemons, washed
6 to 8 red-skinned apples, cored but unpeeled
Brown sugar
1/2 cup dry white wine or apple juice
Directions
1. Using a very sharp knife, slice the lemons very thin. Remove the seeds and make a layer of lemon slices in a serving bowl.
2. Cut the apples twice the thickness of the lemon slices. Sprinkle a little brown sugar over the lemon layer, top with apple slices, sprinkle with sugar, and continue making layers until all the fruit is used. Do not use too much sugar.
3. Pour about 1/2 cup white wine over all and chill for 4 hours. If the wine is absorbed by the apples, add a little more during the chilling.
