Apple & Herb Stuffing Recipe
Apple and herb stuffing is a flavorful fruited poultry stuffing. Lightly cooked to prepare, it is prepared with celery and onion cooked in margerine. Combined with bread cubes along with chicken bouillon and chopped red apples, it has a nutty touch to it with almonds thrown in. herbed with parsley and sage, it is spiced with poultry seasoning.
Ingredients
2 cups sliced celery
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 3/4 cups hot water
1 tablespoon Chicken-Flavor Instant Bouillon or 3 Chicken-Flavor Bouillon Cubes
12 cups dry bread cubes (about 16 slices bread)
3 cups coarsely chopped red apples
1 cup slivered almonds, toasted
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon rubbed sage
Directions
In large skillet, cook celery and onion in margarine until tender.
Add water and bouillon; cook until bouillon dissolves.
In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients; add bouillon mixture.
Mix well.
Loosely stuff turkey just before roasting.
Place remaining stuffing in greased baking dish; bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until hot.
Refrigerate leftovers.
