Brandied Apple Fritters Recipe
Ingredients
| 3 large cooking apples | ||
| Granulated Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Brandy | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 1 teaspoon each of grated lemon and orange rinds | ||
| All purpose flour | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Eggs | 2 , Well beaten | |
| Olive oil | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Beer | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Fat for deep frying | ||
| Confectioners' sugar | ||
Directions
Core and peel apples; cut into 1/2-inch rings.
Mix 1/4 cup granulated sugar, brandy, and grated rinds.
Pour over apples and let stand for 2 hours.
Mix remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar and other ingredients, except last 2.
Let stand for 1 hour.
Dip drained apples, one ring at a time, into the mixture.
Fry in hot deep fat (375°F.
on a frying thermometer) until brown on both sides.
Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
