Moist Apple Dumplings Recipe
Ingredients
| Pastry for a two crust pie | ||
| Apples | 4 Medium | |
| Sugar | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Butter | 4 Teaspoon | |
| Brown sugar | 2/3 Cup (16 tbs) (Syrup:) | |
| Water | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (Syrup:) | |
| Butter | 2 Teaspoon (Syrup:) | |
| Cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon (Syrup:) | |
Directions
Roll out pastry as for pie and cut in 7 inch squares.
Peel and core apples, but leave whole.
Place an apple on each square of dough and fill cavity with sugar, cinnamon and 1 tsp butter.
Bring opposite points of dough up to overlap apple.
Moisten to seal.
Place dumplings in a baking dish.
Heat syrup to boiling.
Pour hot syrup around dumplings and bake at 400 degrees, 40-45 minutes or until apples are done.
