Ingredients

 Flour2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Baking powder2 Teaspoon
 Shortening3/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Milk3 Tablespoon
 Apples8 Medium, peeled
 Sugar
 Ground cinnamon
 Sugar2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Ground cinnamon1/4 Teaspoon
 Ground nutmeg1/4 Teaspoon
 Hot water2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Butter1/4 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
Cut in shortening until crumbly.
Add milk; stir until mixture forms a ball.
Divide dough in half.
Roll out on floured surface to 12" square.
Cut in 4 (6") squares.
Place 1 apple in the center of each square.
Sprinkle each with sugar and cinnamon.
Brings corners of dough to top of apple.
Pinch edges together.
Place in buttered 13 x 9 x 2" baking dish.
Repeat with remaining dough.
Combine 2 c.sugar, 1/4 tsp.cinnamon and nutmeg in saucepan.
Add water and butter.
Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted.
Pour syrup around apple dumplings.
Bake in 350° oven 50-60 minutes or until apples are tender.
