Apple Dumplings with Custard Sauce Recipe

Lightly grease a large baking sheet with butter.
Divide the pastry dough into 6 equal pieces, reserving a little for decoration.
Pat each piece into a circle.
Put an apple on each circle and work the dough up the sides of the apple, leaving the top open.
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
Spoon the mixture into the centers of the apples, putting 2 cloves in each cavity.
Seal the pastry over the tops of the apples.
Put the apples upside down on the baking sheet.
Roll out the reserved pastry dough and cut out leaves.
Decorate the apple dumplings, brush with milk and dust with sugar.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Serve hot with the custard.
