Apple Cheese Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1 cup unsifted wholewheat flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
2 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, and grated (2 cups)
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons corn or vegetable oil
Directions
1 Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease and flour a 9"x9"x2" baking pan. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole-wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; mix in the cheese and apples.
2 In a 1-pint glass measuring cup, stir together the buttermilk, egg, and oil. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, pour in the buttermilk mixture, and stir just until combined. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing it to the edges.
3 Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then turn onto a serving plate.
