Ingredients

 Flour, 2 1/4 cups
 Powdered sugar1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Baking powder1 Teaspoon
 Soda-bicarb, 2 pinches
 Salt1/4 Teaspoon
 Butter/Margarine8 Tablespoon
 Milk, 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons
 Cooking apples, 4
 Cinnamon powder1/2 Teaspoon
 Melted butter1 Tablespoon

Directions

Sift together flour, 3/4 cup sugar, salt, Soda-bicarb and baking powder.
Rub in fat.
Add enough milk to make a stiff dough.
Knead dough lightly, dusting with flour.
Pat the dough in a rectangular tin (7 inch x 9 inch).
Peel, core and slice apples.
Arrange apple slices on patted dough.
Combine rest of the sugar and cinnamon powder and sprinkle on the apples.
Sprinkle melted butter and bake in the lower shelf of moderate oven (180°C to 195°C) for 35 to 40 minutes.
