Crisp Apple Brown Betty Recipe
|Dried breadcrumbs||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Crushed cornflakes||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|

|Cooking apples||1 Pound, peeled, cored and chopped|

Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the breadcrumbs, cornflakes, sugar, spices and lemon rind and mix together.
Grease a baking dish and spoon about one-third of this mixture into it, then add half of the chopped apples.
Cover the apples with another third of the breadcrumb mixture, add another layer of apples, and finish off with the remaining breadcrumb mixture.
Pour over the lemon juice and water, cover the dish and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove the cover for the last 15 minutes to brown the topping.
