Ingredients

 
1 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
 
1/4 cup melted margarine or butter
 
4 pkts concentrated acesulfame-K
 
1/4 tsp nutmeg
 
1/4 tsp cinnamon
 
3 med apples, pared, cored, and sliced thin
 
1 1/4 tsp lemon juice
 
3 tsp water
 
1 pkt. concentrated acesulfame-K

Directions

Toss the bread crumbs and margarine.
In a small bowl, combine the four packets of acesulfame-K and the nutmeg and cinnamon.
In a 1-qt. (1 L) casserole arrange one-third of the crumbs.
On top of the crumbs arrange one-third of the apples.
Sprinkle the apples with one-third of the cinnamon mixture.
Add another layer of crumbs, and apples.
Do this again.
Top with the remaining crumbs.
Mix together the lemon juice, water, and one packet of acesulfame-K.
Drizzle over the top layer of crumbs.
Cover and bake in a preheated 350°F (180°C) oven for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
