Appie Cheese Nut Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Pastry for a double-crust 9-inch pie | ||
| Apples | 4 Cup (16 tbs), thinly sliced | |
| Brown sugar | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| All purpose flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1/4 cup broken walnut meats | ||
| 1/4 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes | ||
Directions
Line a 9-inch pie pan with pastry and arrange half the apple slices on the bottom crust.
In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Sprinkle half the mixture over the apples in pie.
Sprinkle half the walnuts over pie; add half the cheese cubes.
Then add a second layer of apples, the rest of the sugar-flour mixture, remaining nuts, and remaining cheese.
Cover pie with top crust, pressing edges together with a fork.
Prick the surface with fork.
Bake in a 425°F oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until apples are tender.
