Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
3 oz. cream cheese
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
3 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons anise seed
Directions
Cream butter and cream cheese together.
Add sugar gradually, beating thoroughly after each addition.
Beat in eggs one at a time; continue beating until light and fluffy.
Add a mixture of the remaining ingredients; mix well.
Divide dough in half, place on a lightly greased cookie sheet, and form into 2 rolls the length of baking sheet and 1 1/2 inches wide.
Bake at 350°F 30 to 35 minutes, or until light brown.
Remove from oven and cut rolls crosswise into slices about 3/4 inch thick.
Place on cookie sheets cut side down.
Return to oven.
