Angel Food Cake Recipe
This Angel Food Cake recipe is by a long shot my most preferred recipe. This is the most comforting Dessert recipe I have come across. In my estimation, if one is a chef, one needs to have a personal recipe of Angel Food Cake, just like I do.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups cake flour, sifted
1 1/3 cups plus 1/2 cup sugar, divided
12 egg whites
1 1/4 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Fresh strawberries for serving (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Sift together flour with 1/2 cup of the sugar 4 times.
Beat egg whites with cream of tartar, salt and flavorings in large bowl at high speed with electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
Gradually add the remaining 1 1/3 cups sugar, mixing well after each addition.
Fold in flour mixture.
Pour into ungreased 10-inch tube pan.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched with finger.
Invert pan and allow cake to cool completely in pan before removing from pan.
