Cut bread and cheese into small squares.
Thread alternately onto four skewers.
Arrange in an ovenproof dish so that each end of the skewer is supported by the rim.
Melt half of the butter and brush generously over the brochettes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Bake for about 15-20 nutes, basting occasionally with butter in dish.
The brochettes should be golden brown.
Meanwhile, melt remaining butter in a saucepan.
Mash anchovies and add tobutter.
Gradually add milk and mix well together over gentle heat.
Bring to boiling point.
Pour hot anchovy sauce over brochettes and serve immediately.
