Amli Ne Machhi No Patio Recipe
Ingredients
| 500 g pomfret or any other fish, sliced half-inch thick through the bone or 500 g prawns, shelled, cleaned and deveined | ||
| 1 large pod garlic | ||
| Turmeric powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1-2 tsp chilli powder or 6 dried red chillies | ||
| Cumin seeds | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Tamarind the size of a lime without seeds or strings, infused in 2 cups water | ||
| Vinegar for grinding | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
Directions
Wash fish, rub with a little salt and keep aside for half an hour.
Grind cumin seeds, garlic and red chillies in a little vinegar.
Add turmeric powder.
Rub half the ground spices on fish.
Heat oil in a pan and fry remaining spices.
Add fish and saute for a minute.
Strain tamarind water into pan, add sugar and salt and simmer on medium heat till fish is cooked and gravy is thick.
Serve with boiled rice and plain dal or rotlis or khichdi.
