Ingredients
1). 1 cup long beans (cut in to 1" long pieces)
2). 1 med. sized potato (Peel and dice)
3). 1 cup fresh/frozen coconut
4). 1 tsp urad dal
5).10 red chillies (fry in 1/4 tsp oil)
6). 1/4 tsp tamarind paste
7). salt to taste
8). 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
9).3 tsp oil
Directions
1. Cook long beans and potato till tender.
2. Fry urad dal in 1tsp oil and fry till light brown and keep it aside.
3. Grind coconut, chillies and tamarind paste by adding about a cup of water to a coarse paste.
4. Now add the fried urad dal to the ground paste and grind it to a smooth paste.
5. Heat remaining oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
6. When they splutter add the ground masala to this.
7. Mix it well and add cooked long beans and potatoes and add salt to taste.
8. Bring it to a boil and reduce the heat.
9. Cover and cook till all the water evaporates.
10.Serve hot as a side dish with rice and Dal.
(You can prepare the same curry by adding green beans and potatoes)

Thanks Snigdha....This is one of the common dishes of coastal Karnataka...Some people also add 1 tbsp of jaggery to this dish, but I don't like adding jaggery...
