 Butter1/4 Pound

 Egg yolks2

 Lemon, rind1 Teaspoon, grated
 Salt1 Pinch
 Candy sprinkles
 Chocolate sprinkles
 Cherries1/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 ICING
 Icing Sugar1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Lemon juice4 Tablespoon

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Cream together butter and sugar.
Fold in flour, baking powder, egg yolks, vanilla extract, lemon rind and salt to form a stiff dough.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 hour.
Roll out dough to 12 inch (30 cm) square.
Cut into 26 x 1/2 inch (1 cm) blocks.
Roll each into sausage shape about 1/2 inch (1 cm) in diameter, shape into the 26 alphabet letters and flatten slightly.
Place on greased baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
Allow to cool on tray 2 minutes before removing to cake rack.
Stir icing sugar with lemon juice to make a thick icing.
Ice letters while still warm.
Decorate with candy sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles or glace cherries.
Allow to cool and set.
