Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, beat butter, vanilla, almond extract, and salt with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Gradually beat in sugar and continue bearing until light and fluffy.
2. Fold in flour and chocolate chips. With a rubber scraper, turn batter into an ungreased 9-inch square pan, leveling surface. Sprinkle almonds over batter and gently press in.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden. Remove pan to rack, cut into 20 bars, and let cool completely in pan.
