Ingredients

 
2 cups all purpose flour
 
3/4 cup granulated sugar
 
1/2 cup brown sugar
 
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
 
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
 
1 teaspoon cinnamon
 
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
 
1/2 cup butter or margarine
 
1 1/2 cups applesauce
 
2 eggs
 
1/2 cup chopped figs
 
3/4 cup raisins
 
1/4 cup citron
 
3/4 cup blanched whole almonds
 
1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted

Directions

Combine flour, granulated and brown sugars, soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in mixing bowl.
Add butter and applesauce; beat on low speed of electric mixer 2 minutes, being sure to scrape sides of bowl.
Add eggs; beat 2 minutes.
Stir in fruits and nuts.
Pour batter into greased and floured 9 inch loaf pan.
Bake bread at 350°F 1 1/2 hours or until done.
Cool slightly before removing from pan.
Dust warm bread with powdered sugar
