 All purpose flour2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
 Baking powder1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
 Salt1⁄4 Teaspoon
 Butter1 Cup (16 tbs), softened
 Sugar1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
 Ground blanched almonds1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
 Almond extract1 Teaspoon
 Egg yolk1 , lightly beaten
 Blanched whole almonds24

Directions

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a mixer bowl.
Add butter, sugar, ground almonds and almond extract.
Mix until well combined.
Knead on a lightly floured board until smooth, Shape dough into 24 uniform balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
Brush with beaten egg yolk and press an almond into the top of each cookie.
Bake in a preheated 350° oven 15 to 20 minutes or until golden.
Remove to a cake rack to cool.
