Almond Bars Recipe

Almond bars have been one of my favorites since childhood. These almond bars are an old family favorite. Baked with almonds and coconut along with flour, eggs and vanilla, the almond bars can be stored in airtight containers and served as delicious homemade dessert bars.

Directions

GETTING READY
1.Start by preheating the oven to 350F degrees
MAKING
2.In a bowl, cream shortening with 1/2 cup brown sugar and work in 1 cup flour
3.In a square baking pan, spread the mixture in a very thin layer
4.Now bake in the moderate oven for 10 minutes
5.Once baked completely, cool the slightly
6.In a bowl, beat eggs until light
7.Then beat in vanilla and remaining sugar
8.Now add the remaining ingredients in order listed and blend well
9.Spread over partly cooled mixture
10.Return to oven and bake until browned, for 25 minutes
11.Once browned completely, cool slightly and cut into bars
SERVING
12.Served as a dessert
