Recipe Story

With Memorial Day right around the corner, it's just about time to break out those grills (or grill pans). I love grilling, although I must admit my husband does most of the grilling at our place. Either way, the end result is always delicious!!

Ingredients

Ahi tuna - ¾ pounds

Scallions - 2, sliced

Ginger – 1 teaspoon, grated

Tamari - 1 tablespoon

Rice vinegar – 1 ½ teaspoon

Wasabi powder - 1 tablespoon

Light mayo - ¼ cup

Juice of half a lime

Rolls – 2, sliced and lightly toasted

Peanut oil - 1 teaspoon

Red onion – 1 fat slice, for garnishing

Mixed greens – a few

Avocado slices – a few

Directions

GETTING READY
For Wasabi Mayo:
1. In a bowl, take mayo, wasabi powder, freshly squeezed lime juice. Give it a quick mix. Keep it aside.

MAKING
For the Tuna Burgers:
2. Cut tuna into chunks and blend it in the food process until minced.
3. In a bowl, take minced tuna, ginger, tamari, and rice vinegar. Mix well.
4. Shape the mixture into two burgers and brush each burger lightly with peanut oil.
5. Heat the grill pan over a medium flame and cook burgers for 2-4 minutes on each side.

SERVING
6. On the toasted buns, layer wasabi mayo on each side of the bun.
7. On one toasted bun, layer with mixed greens and another burger.
8. Add another layer of a thick fat slice of onion and a thin slice of avocado over it.
9. Top it with other toasted bun. Your Grilled Ahi Tuna Burger is ready.

I have been using this recipe for a year now, and EVERYBODY loves it! Including me! SO very delicious, and as a vege-pescetarian, these are the ONLY type of burgers I'll eat besides veggie burgers. With one change; I can't get the taste right w. wasabi powder, so i buy the paste already made. Plus, I add garlic too!
