Indian Pea Pulao Recipe Video
Kids love it! Mildly spiced and serves as a versatile side dish from exotic chicken or curry to simple raita. It is a great alternative to plain boiled rice.
Ingredients
| Garam masala | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Red chili powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 Tablespoon (Start By 0.5 Tablespoon And Adjust According To Your Taste) | |
| Coriander powder | 1 Teaspoon (Sookha Dhaniya) | |
| Cumin seeds | 1 Teaspoon (Jeera) | |
| Green peas | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Basmati rice | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
| Golden raisins | 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
| Cashews | 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
| Cinnamon | 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Clarified butter | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Asafoetida | 1 Pinch | |
| Bay leaf | 4 (Tej Patta) | |
| Cloves | 4 | |
| Black cardamom | 1 | |
| Black pepper | 5 |
Directions
Wash and soak the rice for half hour. In a pan, heat ghee and add asafetida, cumin seeds, bay leaves, cloves and black pepper kernels, cashews and raisins. Now add water, along with coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder and salt. Place a lid and let the broth come up to a boil. Now add rice and peas. Stir and place the lid back. Rice should be ready in 10-12 minutes. Do not stir often to avoid breaking of rice. Serve with Raita or Mint Chutney!
