Ingredients

Leftover meat - cut into 1/2-inch chunks

Olive oil - 3 tablespoons

Garlic - 2 cloves, crushed

Green onion - 1, chopped

Beef stock (or water) - 1 cup

Milk (or cream) - 1/2 cup

Pasta sauce - 1 jar

Salt - to taste

Pepper - to taste

Dried Italian herbs - a pinch

Directions

MAKING
1) In a saute pan, add the oil and then the pieces of meat.
2) Brown the meat over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes.
3) Add the green onions and garlic and continue to saute for another 2 minutes, till the vegetables are soft.
4) Add the stock (or water) and continue cooking the mixture.
5) Next, add the milk or cream, cook for a few minutes and reduce the heat to a simmer.
6) Add the pasta sauce to the meat mixture and cook on a simmer till the meat is entirely cooked. This usually takes about 45 minutes. In case the sauce looks too thick, add some water and stir well.
7) Season the sauce with salt, pepper and Italian herbs. Cook for another 5 minutes.

SERVING
8) Serve the meat sauce while it is still hot. Goes really well with pastas. Can also be served as a side dish to a variety of preparations.

Editors Review

A meat sauce right out of traditional Italian kitchen; watching this video will sure make you nostalgic. I love the big chunks of meat instead of ground meat as in Bolognese sauce. Way to use leftover roast meat and the sauce is perfect to go with pasta to make a great Italian meal.
