Traditional Hanukkah Dinner

Traditional Hanukkah Dinner consists of a wonderful combination of dishes that range from a main course, side dishes and desserts. The meal is also accompanied by kosher wine of choice. Brisket, latkes, greens, applesauce and doughnuts are a definite part of a Traditional Hanukkah Dinner.

 

History of Traditional Hanukkah Dinners
Traditional Hanukkah Dinner is prepared in celebration of the Maccabees army’s victory over the Syrian and Greek armies, when they had invaded the temple of Jerusalem. After the temple was restored, a lamp was lit inside with just enough oil to last a day. However, the lamp stayed lit for eight days, which is why Hanukkah is celebrated for that many days comprising of all the dishes that are part of the Traditional Hanukkah Dinner.

 

Common Ingredients Used in Preparation of Traditional Hanukkah Dinners
Traditional Hanukkah Dinner comprises of mostly fried foods such as brisket, crispy fried latkes, doughnuts, applesauce, and vegetable and greens salad. The ingredients that go into making these dishes are supposed to be kosher (clean) and also prepared as per the Jewish Dietary Laws.

 

Popular Traditional Hanukkah Dinner Recipes
Traditional Hanukkah Dinner comprises of popular dishes such as Brisket cooked in a slow cooker over a period of time, crispy fried potato latkes, which are crunchy on the outside and soft from inside, crockpot cooked applesauce, doughnuts, etc. However, these days other dishes such as Pot Roast with Caramelized Onions and Roasted Carrots, Orange-Vanilla Sundaes with Dates and Orange Muscat are also part of a Traditional Hanukkah Dinner.
