Green Goddess Dressing: It is a salad dressing containing sour cream, mayonnaise, anchovy, chives, chervil, lemon juice, tarragon and pepper. It is one of the most popular dressings of the West Coast of the United States. It has a green shade, and is known to have been invented in San Francisco in 1923. It was created by Chef Philip Roemer, the executive chef of the Palace Hotel of San Francisco, who made it as a tribute to the famous actor George Arliss and his popular play 'The Green Goddess'.

 

Crab Louie Salad: It is also called King of Salads and is a salad consisting of crab's meat. The dish is considered to have originated in San Francisco, and the earliest known Crab Louie was served at the Solari's in San Francisco in 1904. The recipe for the salad exists in the publication 'Bohemian San Francisco' of 1904, and in the 1910 edition of Victor Hertzler's cookbook. Victor Hertzler was the head of St Francis Hotel in the city.

It usually has a piece of paper wrapped inside it which gives a few words of prophecy or wise advice, and is called the 'fortune' inside the cookie.  It may also contain a Chinese phrase along with translation or some lucky numbers that may be used for lottery.
