Pear chutney, a spicy sweet and sour condiment from the Indian cuisine is made from sliced pear as the predominant ingredient. Sliced pears, finely chopped green pepper, raisins, sugar, salt and vinegar and shredded ginger are stir fried and cooked in water. A cheesecloth bag consisting of allspices and cinnamon powder is lowered into the pear chutney mixture till it thickens into a viscous fluid. Pear chutney is best relished with Indian bread recipes.
