Paul Prudhomme is an American celebrity cook specializing in Cajun cuisine. He also owns the K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen which is one among the top restaurants in New Orleans.
Professional Life of Chef Paul Prudhomme
Being the youngest Paul grew up amid 12 other siblings in a farm close to Opelousas the abode of St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He had a strong family involvement in cooking with many members being cooks as well as in restaurant business in the nearby Lafayette, Louisiana. He took over as the executive chef at Commander's Palace in New Orleans. In 1979, Paul Prudhomme ventured into active culinary business opening the K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen in the French area of New Orleans along with his late wife, Kay Prudhomme.

Paul Prudhomme earned several awards from many organizations. A few of the awards received by him are as follows:
- “Restaurateur of the Year” award in 1983 from Louisiana State Restaurant Association.
- Merite’ Agricole of the French Republic- As the first American-born chef to receive the award.
- “Culinarian of the Year” in 1986 by the American Culinary Federation.
- The College of Diplomates Award in 1993 from the National Restaurant Association.

In the year May 2007, Prudhomme came up with his own cookery show- Chef Paul Prudhomme's Always Cooking! as a presenter. The show came up with 26 half-hour episodes containing his recipes in the first season. Earlier he did another show for PBS in the middle 90s titled Chef Paul Prudhomme's Fiery Foods, produced by New Orleans' PBS partner WYES- also the producer of Always Cooking with interesting Paul Prudhomme recipes.
The television show-Chef Paul Prudhomme's Always Cooking! alsoaccompanied a cookbook titled with the same name featuring many Paul Prudhomme recipes.
Paul Prudhomme encountered a mishap in March, 2008, Prudhomme when he was hit by a .22-calibre bullet while cooking for the golf tournament -Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Initially he reported he believed it was a bee stung him on the right arm which later was discovered to be a bullet. Prudhomme quickly recouped without any medical attention and in five minutes, was back resuming cooking, closing the day at 3:30pm.
