Hoagie Dip is essentially an Italian appetizer. The savory dish is actually supposed to be a dip is often served as an appetizer on account of its rich and abundant ingredients which make it quite filling.The flavor and texture of the preparation often vary greatly from one region to another as these depend on the ingredients used. The dip is commonly prepared in Italian households and is sold in outlets and eateries almost everywhere.

The dip has an Italian origin and it is traditionally a meat dish, apart from this, not much is known about how the preparation came into being. It has been around for a very long time and is considered to be one of the best accompaniments of the popular Italian sandwiches. Traditionally, Hoagie Dip is supposed to be a meat dish and therefore, meat is always an important ingredient. Nowadays, however, vegetarian versions of the dip are also quite popular. Onions, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, salami, ham, turkey, cheese, olive oil and bread are the most important traditional ingredients used in preparation. For people looking to make the vegetarian version, the meat is omitted and replaced by vegetables of preference.

 

Preparation of the Hoagie Recipe

The preparation of the dip is fairly easy and does not take a lot of time. Generally, the entire preparation takes about 20 to 30 minutes. The ingredients are all prepared and mixed together. Till the dip is to be used, it is refrigerated.

 

Serving and Eating the Dip

Hoagie Dip is traditionally a dip but it is mostly served as an appetizer. Depending upon individual preferences, however, the preparation can be served alongside sandwiches and as a part of  lunch or dinner. It can be spread on bread or stuffed inside bread rolls

The dip can be stored in the fridge for a number of days so a batch once cooked can be consumed over many days, until the lettuce is still crispy and fresh.

Hoagie dip can be made using just about any ingredient available including almost all vegetables and meats.
