Gotu Kola Tea

 

Gotu Kola Tea is an Asian tea prepared from the dried leaves of Gotu kola herb popularly known as Indian Pennywort. This tea is mostly enjoyed as a medicinal drink and is described as a power drink in annals of Indian Medicine -Ayurveda. The gotu kola is described as the powerful anti-aging herb.  This herbal tea variant is recommended for the treatment of several diseases.

 

Mythical References of Tea prepared from Gotu Kola

In the legend of Tai Chi Chuan, the supreme master Li-Ching Yun lived upto 256 years after chewing its fresh leaves and consuming the gotu kola tea. In Sri Lanka there is a legend that King Aruna used to consume the tea prepared by crushing the leaves of the gotu kola herb to increase his sexual prowess. This enhanced sexual prowess allowed him to satisfy his 50- woman harem.

 

Brewing Guide for Tea Prepared from Gotu Kola

The method of tea preparation is not different from other herbal teas. Dried or fresh leaves of gotu kola herb or gotu kola tea bag and water are needed for brewing this tea. The tea bag or leaves are steeped in boiling water for about 15 minutes until the desired color is achieved. The gotu kola tea is then strained and served in cups with or without sugar owing to individual taste preferences.
