Gooseberry

Gooseberries, also known in certain other languages as Stachelbeere (German), Stekbes (Flemish), Groseille a Maquereaux (French), Uva Spina (Italian) etc, is a fruit belonging to Ribes family and traces its origin to certain parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. The berry fruit which has many tiny seeds at the center is related to the blackcurrants family, although resembling the shape of grapes. Gooseberries are grown in smaller as well as much larger sizes of fruits that are colored green, yellow or in shades of pink to purple, depending upon the place where they are grow and the category they belong to. With a unique flavor of its own, gooseberries are best used in desserts.
