Funeral Pie

Funeral Pie, otherwise called as raisin pie or rosina pie (rosina is the German word for raisin), is often a variety of pie served before a funeral procession to the people gathered. There should have been no particular reason of having chosen raisin pie as the funeral pie, but as the popular notion prevails the reason could have been that raisin s are available at all seasons and the pie could be made a day or tow in advance. Although the ingredients other than raisin may well vary, almost all the varieties seem to settle for a double crust, often with a lattice decoration. Seen quite often in Amish homes, serving funeral pie is almost like a tradition often given to the grieving family and friends.
