Filet

 

Filet is a generic term which is usually used to describe a boneless, tender, high quality cut of meat. Filet when used as a verb refers to slicing of large cuts into small boneless steak. 

 

Sometimes, the word filet is used for Filet mignon which is a small boneless steak cut of beef carcass usually from the small end of the beef tenderloin. It is also called as cute fillet or dainty fillet. It has low intramuscular fat in it. Filet mignon in general refers to the pork when it is found on French menu. 

 

There can be some confusion sometimes as the word fillet is usually used to describe the boneless cut of fish. When used as a verb fillet refers to slicing of boneless side off of fish.

 

 

 

Ingredients and Preparation

 

Filet can be grilled and served as such. It is usually cooked in high heat such as grilling, pan frying, roasting, or broiling. Generally, the Bacon is used for the cooking of filet as it has low level of fat marbling. Bacon provides flavor and prevent the drying of filet during cooking.
