Eczema Diet

Eczema diet refers to the group of foods which helps in curbing the inflammation of skin. Eczema is the term which refers to a set of skin conditions that may range from itching, rashes, drying, oozing and bleeding to something as severe as peeling of skin. The term is widely used to encompass large set of conditions that affect the skin throughout the body. Normally it is observed in the hands, face and legs. Eczema can be induced by various factors but recent studies hint that food is one of the prime factors that may aggravate the condition.

 

The researchers at San Diego School of Medicine under the University of California have identified that a diet meant for curbing the condition should be rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin D3.

 

Eczema Diet Program: Characteristics
A typical diet designed for curbing eczema should consist of following foods or food groups:

 

  • Proteins: During various studies it was proved that the some forms of eczema are brought by poor consumption of protein. Foods rich in protein such as nuts, seeds, legumes are recommended for inhibiting the symptoms. Some of the nutritionists also recommend individual consumption of fruit and vegetable juices or combination of the both.
  • Vitamin C: It aids in prevention of many eczema conditions such as psoriasis. The fruits rich in Vitamin C have powerful antioxidants which inhibits the markers responsible for inflicting the situation. The consumption of fruits such as Orange, and lime are strongly encouraged as a part of eczema diet.
  • Vitamin A: The deficiency of Vitamin A normally inflicts eczema bound anomalies such as dry skin, herpes, psoriasis, acne, oily skin, etc. Foods rich in carotenoids are strongly recommended to curb the situation.  Foods like carrots, dandelions, apples, beans, mangoes, plums, tomatoes, chards, etc are rich source of Vitamin A.
  • Vitamin B: It was proved that the deficiency of Vitamin B can result in eczema. It was proved that the foods containing vitamin B such as legumes, whole grains, nuts etc can aid in curbing the severity of the condition.
  • Vitamin E: The vitamin E rich foods are encouraged as the part of regular eczema diet because they are rich in antioxidants and help in improving the skin conditions.  Olive oil and other edible fats are generally recommended under this group.
