  • Nordic Sugar Cookies –  Semla – is the name for Nordic sugar cookie served during  Easter. This cookie does not belongs to the league of cookies, still it is considered a cookie. The cookie gets its name from flour from which it is prepared – Semolina.  Many variants of this cookie enriched with almond paste are served during the Shrove Tuesday, which is the last day before the beginning of Lent.  In Norway and Denmark, these cookies are known as fastelvnsbolle, in Finland they are known as Laskiaispulla and in Sweden they are known as fastlagsbulle. The cookies are sometimes served with jam or whipped cream in place of almond paste.

  • Greek and Italian Easter Sugar Cookies – In many Meditteranean countries the sweet breads and cookies are served as staple foods. The Greek Easter cookie is termed as Koulourakia and it is butter braided with a tint of vanilla essence. The Italians prefer to have lemon flavored cookies and they are sold as "lemon knots", "knot cookies", "taralucci", and "anginetti". These cookies are lightly frosted and topped with decoration sugar or confetti.

  • Easter Sugar Cookie from America- For many bakers in America, creating sugar cookie is an art. They decorate it with different icings and prepare it in different and unusual shapes. These cookies are offered as bunny cookies, flower cookies, decorated egg cookies, chick cookies and almost every shape, which is not usually associated with Easter.
