Drop biscuits are a variety of soft and smooth baked cookies that have aquired the name from their method of preparation. Unlike the conventional biscuit batter that is stiff and rolled out into sheets before cutting into biscuits, the drop biscuits batter is a highly viscous fluid that is dropped by spoonfuls into biscuit molds and baked in the oven till the right consistency. A basic drop biscuits recipe can be made with all purpose flour, salt, baking powder, milk and shortening.
