History of Dahi Puri
Dahi puri originated from Mumbai. It started as a roadside snack but gradually became available in snack bars and restaurants also. Types of Dahi Puri
- In Maharashtra, onion and garlic are added to this chaat. Also green moong is an important ingredient suggested by the dahi puri recipe. The potatoes used in the golgappas are cut into small pieces and used for stuffing. The other ingredients are put on top of one another and form separate layers.
- In West Bengal onion and garlic is never added to this snack. Instead Bengalis add crushed roasted cumin and chilli powder to enhance the flavour.
- Punjabis add ginger and their dahi puri is very spicy in taste.
