Cool whip dessert is referred to the dessert recipes containing the most popular product of Kraft foods called ‘cool whip’. Cool whip is a non –dairy product manufactured by the Kraft foods. It is basically used in making desserts or as topping for no-baked pies and puddings.
 

Cool whip dessert is also considered low-fat due to the absence of dairy products and excess sugary stuffs. Cool whip dessert may include the recipes like pies, cakes, parfaits, mousse and dessert salads.
 

These desserts are a favorite among the Americans and Canadians.

 

History and Origin of Cool Whip Desserts

Cool whip dessert was first invented at the time when cool whip was introduced in 1967. Cool whip is used as a frozen, creamy topping on many dessert recipes. It was manufactured by the ‘General Foods’ under their ‘Birds Eye’ division. This division later became a part of Kraft Foods.
 

The idea behind the invention of cool whip was to introduce a frozen non-dairy cream product that can easily be stored in refrigerator and available in all grocery stores.

 

Preparation of Cool Whip Desserts

Cool whip dessert can be prepared in any variety. Be it a cake, pie or pudding, cool whip compliments all desserts and that also without excess fat and calories. Cool whip is available in frozen form; hence it requires softening of the ingredient before using. The varieties of the product used in desserts may include extra creamy, flavored, reduced fat and French vanilla flavors. Any of these flavors may be used to prepare cool whip desserts.
 

After softening the creamy product, the ingredients such as chopped fresh fruits, pecans, marshmallows and icing sugar may be added to give extra punch to the dessert. The mixture can either be topped over cakes as icing or over pies as toping. Fruit salads may also be prepared by mixing cool whip.
 

Mousse and parfaits may be made with the creamy textured product.

 

Serving and Eating of Cool Whip Desserts

Being a dessert recipe, cool whip dessert is served after meals. The cool whip is a very light product; hence the desserts are not heavy on the palate. Like other desserts, cool whip dessert is also eaten with fork and dessert spoon.
 

Pies can also be served at the time of breakfast with light topping of plain flavored cool whip.

Cool whip dessert is usually low-fat as cool whip product does not contain heavy cream and other calorific contents. Cool whip is especially created with a view to provide light but creamy dessert topping. It contains fructose, corn syrup and skimmed milk.
